Fall Is Good & So Is Planning
The season still reads summer but the weather totally reads fall. For many businesses and non-profits, fall is a busy time of year tiding up everything to get ready for the end of the fiscal year and to start a new one. The Chamber is included in that as well. Our strategic planning process will begin in October with our current board but we would love to have feedback from you as well. We will be sending out a survey in the next couple of weeks. We would be grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to fill it out. Constructive feedback is the only way we can continue to be better for you. More details to come.
THRIVE Knoxville has been doing a great job preparing for WHO's RVTV arriving on Wednesday, September 5. This is a great event that brings the community together in downtown Knoxville. If you
are interested in participating or helping out, you can reach out to Heather Ussery and Katrina Nelson.
If you come downtown to enjoy the festivities, representatives from the Chamber will be spreading the good word of Knoxville and having a fun photo booth in the gazebo on the courthouse lawn.
2018 Knoxville Nationals
A HUGE Thank You to everyone who volunteered, decorated store windows, worked extra hours, housed guests, participated in the parade, or did anything to welcome visitors to our community during Nationals. We had a busy but successful week here at the Chamber. If you see any Knoxville Raceway employees, be sure to give them some kind words. Those folks work hard to put on such a great event.
If you have feedback about any Chamber programming during Nationals, please reach out. We are continuing to make notes for next year so we can continually strive to be better.
You should also be aware that the Knoxville Raceway has one last major event happening September 13-15. The 15th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals is the Raceway's second largest event of the year and brings in visitors from all over for a three day racing event. Be sure to welcome them kindly, they will be looking for things to do around town during the day.
Lunch & Learn
The Chamber's next Lunch & Learn will be held on Tuesday, September 18 at the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites from 12:00-1:00 pm. A representative from the City of Knoxville will be on hand to answer any constructive questions about the Highway 14 Road Diet project. We will also discuss how the project could impact businesses. Be sure to check your emails for more updates as the event gets closer.
Business After Hours
Fall Business After Hours will be hosted by Bertrand Monument on Tuesday, October 2 from 4:30-6:00 pm. The event is open house style and a great way to connect to other Chamber members and learn about what the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce is up to.
Welcome Lauren Bagby!
The Chamber is excited to host an intern from Central College this fall. Lauren is a senior at Central majoring in Business Management. She will be focusing on creating an action plan to help improve Chamber and community involvement during the Knoxville Nationals.
