About the Event

Join us for an afternoon of live music, local art, and delicious baked treats! A team of local Reproductive Freedom volunteers is partnering with IAAF to host a fundraiser from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, in the Crescent Room at Big Grove Brewery & Taproom (555 17th St, Des Moines)! We’ll hear from School of Rock, along with other local musicians, and we’ll auction off handmade art and homemade baked goods from local creators in the Des Moines area. Place a bid during the event to support abortion access, or make a freewill donation at the door! Here’s the link to the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/427317956548028.

All proceeds will support Iowa Abortion Access Fund during Fund-a-Thon 2024 and enable abortion access for those in need. Now through May 31, monetary donations to IAAF of up to $50,000 are matched through the National Network of Abortion Funds. That means all funds donated during the fundraiser will be doubled! We can’t wait to see you there!

About the Event

We love to read and know a lot of our patrons do too! So we are hosting our second Book Swap. This event is FREE and open to all. We hope you will find some new reads and maybe even meet some new reading friends.

Just bring a book (or 5) that you loved but are ready to trade. Browse the books others have brought and take home as many as you brought to trade. Any genre is welcome from fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, coffee table books, etc. We will have separate table for children’s books too! We do ask that books be in good condition and one you would gladly recommend to others (no duds please!).

The event starts at 1pm and we will start trading books at 1:30 to give time to get books displayed. We will have note cards to write a few words about why you liked the book you are trading.

While you’re here enjoy a beer, wine, cocktail, Root Beer or one of our NA offerings. All attendees can enter to win a gift card to the Book Vault!
*We will donate any books not picked up in trade or stock our new taproom library. Please plan to take home as many books as you bring 🙂

About the Event

Anyone from the community is welcome to attend this come and go event to either keep the bracelets they make or have the bracelets donated to the Pink & Blue Awareness Project.

The Pink and Blue Awareness Project, located in New York, is a project that relies heavily on volunteers to help make bracelets that are then distributed for free to individuals, families and organizations all over the United States. The bracelets are worn during October for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month to raise awareness and to honor the thousands of babies lost to pregnancy and infant loss every year. Wearing or helping make these bracelets helps show support for those who have experienced a pregnancy or infant loss.

Light refreshments & snacks will be provided.

The event is free to attend and all supplies will be provided. Supplies for this event were made possible through Be The Light – Suicide Prevention Walk Grant.
